- I came to the conclusion (after I wrote this post) that if I had plenty of money, of course I could be stylish, because I would be able to buy whatever the hell I wanted, I would just buy style. The point, however, is to make the best with the means you have, and since I have never been the quality-over-quantity-type, anyway, I am fine with buying cheap, and since I still think that finding something ridiculously cool for ridiculously cheap is one of the best shopping experiences you can have, I guess I do not necessarily have to whine and complain. Furthermore, it is all about keeping your eyes and mind open to work with the average to make it hits!
- Lamé zipper-leggings by Glad News + some random oversized print T-shirt and jelly sandals I picked up somewhere in the backstreets of Shimokitazawa, photographed with my new camera. I finally am able to navigate my way thru that highly confusing maze of Shimokitazawa's alleys without completely losing orientation - I concentrated really hard to learn! I still get lost in Shibuya on a regular basis, though
- If we all had to give our style a name right now, what would yours be? I am striving for Neo-Homeless, but right now I am more a Random Crayon-Sketch.

I really enjoyed Japanese Summer, well kinda. I enjoyed the flowers and the green on the trees but I hated the humidity, even though it gets hotter in Australia (like a week of 45c) it felt hotter in Japan cos it was soooo bloody humid! I did like the rain though as it was so different to what I'm used to as back home we are in a drought.
What I liked most though was the trips I made to the beach (Kamakura) and to the pool (Edogawa pool garden, please please please go there it is so much fun and its only Y500!!!) and every weekend having picnics at Yoyogi park.
Hehe I totally agree with your first statement! I think that all the time, it would be so easy to have great style if you could just go shopping every day!
i think like that pretty often too. thought everything must be cheaper here, but still. awesome expensive stuff still make me droll.
hayley, it seems to depend on where youre coming from, because in Munich theres plenty of green, so Tokyo doesnt impress me that much in that respect (actually, not at all, I find it rather gray), and instead of picknicks in the park we have bbqs at the rivers or lakes all the time. And Germany's summer may not last long, but it's hot or warm and arid and really nice and when it rains it rains for a very short time until it clears up again.. Humidity just makes me brain dead. But I dont complain
I definitely will check out your recommendations. Actually there is a trip planned to Kamakura in July. Yay!
killer leggings! and i totally agree with what you wrote
really looks great!!
I'm striving for industrial/metal girl went to prep school but I think I'm pulling more of a lazy-groupie right now style wise.
Humidity is the worst :/ how's the airco situation over there btw? I've heard Japanese turn it up really high so you're semi-freezing when you enter a building?
Being stylish when you have plenty of money to afford high quality/extrordinary clothes can indeed be easier - provided you have good taste to begin with, there are plenty of wealthy people out there who look like crap too... Another thought related to this: those who have great style on a near-zero budget invest a lot of time in shopping and searching to find all this great stuff (vintage treasures, going to flee markets, searching for ebay deals etc).
It's been a long time since I've been on your blog and I had a lot of articles to read (all your life from Japan ^^) I just want to say that I really love your blog and your haircut!! I want to have the same but I don't think it will fit to my face... sorry for my bad english -_- xxx
omgosh how are you making it through the humidity in those leggings? i'm pretty sure my legs would be all yucky and sweaty.
kinda reminds me of when ross from tv show friends couldn't pull up hit leather pants because he was sweating too much...
anyway!i love your t-shirt!
A dreamer, right now it cooled down so everythings fine and haha I thought if it rains theyre water-repellent lol.
